Sevilla and Cordoba

The Heart of Andalucia

Semana Santa (Holy Week), 2003 - With Harry and Matt here visiting, we took some days off of work to travel to Andalucia. Andalucia is all things Spanish, and what foreigners think of when they think of Spain, with flamenco, Sevillanas, tapas, beautiful dark-skinned bodies, warm weather, a festival every other day, mandatory siesta, olive trees, flowered courtyards, and more. . .

After spending a few days in Granada (see that album too), we picked up a rental car (upgraded thanks to ICF Consulting) and sped to Sevilla (Seville in English). Well, actually we were forced by the female in the car (that being Sarah) to stop and see the flamingos (no, not flamenco, actually flamingos in Spain), but it wasn't all it was cracked up to be - probably because they don't get enough shrimp to eat, they weren't very pink. It was there, however, that Harry met and fell in love with his inspiration throughout his stay in Andalucia, his beloved SuperHappy, an ice-pop that he ate probably 5 or so times a day until he left Spain.

In Sevilla we camped at the airport. Actually it was a little patch of grass to the right of the runway, called CAMPING SEVILLA. It was wonderful, with only about 150 tents squeezed into the space of one Boeing 747. No airplanes landed on us, although Harry had trouble sleeping, a bit nervous.

Enjoy the album!
